Returning to nature has become an essential part of contemporary culture. So has the need to look for medical alternatives, based on experience and scientific research.

Thanks to the experience gained in its efforts to accomplish its mission as a pioneer Peruvian institution in its field, and consistent with its identity and the spirit of its service, many from different parts of the world resort to the Peruvian Institute of Andean Phytotherapeutic Research (IPIFA), to seek medical assistance and theoretical-practical information on medicinal plants from the Andean and Amazon regions, traditionally used by native cultures.

Pavia - Italy

Among other initiatives of an educational-therapeutic nature, it is worth mentioning the phyto-chemical and pharmacognosic study of Peruvian medicinal botany, their medical use and the systematization of clinical and experimental data, which the University of Pavia (Prof. Giovanni Vidari) and the collaboration of the University of Ferrara (Prof. Alessandro Medici) carried out jointly with IPIFA within the scope of the Italy-Peru Bilateral Scientific Co-operation and Technological Protocol (click here).

Amongst the current perspectives for pro-health technological and scientific co-operation, IPIFA places priority on those that combine the research of medicinal plants with the study of edible plants (including their organic cultivation), given the extraordinary wealth of both of these in Peru.

This Institute remains open to exchange information in this respect and to collaborate in multi-disciplinary botanical, phyto-chemical, pharmacologic and clinical research projects, as well as in the field of biodiversity and organic farming, either sharing information, suggesting initiatives, or through technical-financial cooperation agreements with similar institutions.

Those who share the goals, principles and values of IPIFA are warmly invited to make contact via webmaster@ipifa.org
